The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) is on standby to deploy aircraft and rescue personnel (first responders) to engage in search and rescue operations in the event of disaster situation in the flood and landslide prone areas in the island which are highly likely with the onset of the Southwest Monsoon.

The surveillance aircraft, helicopters and specially trained Regimental Special Forces from SLAF Bases in Ratmalana, Katunayake and Hingurakgoda are currently on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief for victims, under the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.
